Weaver – Funeral services for SFC Bert L. Steward, 87, will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Michael McElroy officiating. Burial will follow the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, July 23, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. Bert passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at RMC in Anniston. Bert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma F. Steward; three children, Sharon (Chris) Worsham, Gary (Suzette) Steward and Karen (Stephen) Cobb; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Rodney) McCraine, Brett (Heather) Worsham, Dustin Penland, Lea (Jeremy) Jarrett, Rebeka Steward, Matt Penland and Shauna Steward; eight great-grandchildren, Ethan McCraine, Jacob McCraine, Katelyn McCraine, Sarah Emma McCraine, Cade Worsham, Ava Jane Penland, Julian Worsham and Maci Morales; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Pam Conner Pollack and Ellen Starr. Pallbearers will be Dustin Penland, Matt Penland, Brett Worsham, Danny Stewart, Chad Stewart, Rodney McCraine, Glenn Fulmer and Dwight Smith. SFC Bert L. Steward served his county for 20 years in the US Army, where he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, primarily in the Chemical Corps. Following retirement from the Army, Bert became a chicken farmer and a cattle rancher for the remainder of his life. Bert was a long-time member of the Weaver Church of Christ. Bert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dessie Biliter Stewart; and 14 brothers and sisters.
