Funeral service for Joseph Pointer, 81, will be Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Broom officiating. Burial will take place in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday. Mr. Pointer went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Survivors include son, Brent (Peggie) Pointer of Anniston; his daughter, Kellye (Glenn) Payne of Anniston; two grandsons, Jared (Brandi) Pointer of Oxford and Kevin (Michelle) Pointer of White Plains; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Lauren and Judd Pointer; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pointer was a member of West Park Heights Baptist Church in Anniston where he was a Sunday School teller and attendance keeper. He enjoyed attending church and being a servant to the Lord in every capacity. Mr. Pointer was a loving father, grandfather and friend and he was a hard worker, always giving his best in all he did. He retired from Noble Signs in Anniston after working there for 45 years. After his retirement, Mr. Pointer enjoyed tinkering on odds and ends and fixing anything he could get his hands on. He loved to ride his bike on Chief Ladiga Trail and walk at Quintard Mall. Mr. Pointer will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Pointer; one daughter, Joanna Cheree Pointer; his parents, Daniel Webster Pointer and Oma Dye Pointer; three brothers; and six sisters.
